Why Thailand Should Be On A World Traveler’s Bucket List

“Sawadee krap!”

No adventure in Thailand starts off without this greeting, which means “hello” in Thai. With approximately 25 million visitors a year, it is no surprise that Thailand is on a World Traveler’s bucket list.

Called the “Land of Smiles, ” Thailand’s residents are known to be incredibly warm and friendly. There’s no need to worry about language barriers as a significant number of locals are capable of basic English due to the rapid rise in tourism in the last decade. The first thing you should embrace the moment you set foot in Thailand is the sophisticated Thai cuisine. You may find Michelin-starred Thai restaurants in other parts of the world, but nothing beats sitting in a cafe, with tuk-tuks whizzing by while you dive into authentic tom yum whipped up by the ‘Gordon Ramseys’ of Bangkok’s famous street stalls.

From resplendent Buddhist temples with golden hues to floating river markets and traditional performances, the rich and flavorful culture in Thailand’s culture is undoubtedly fascinating. Be intrigued by the ruins in Ayutthaya (the ancient capital of Siam), take an enriching and soothing ride down the famous floating market Damnoen Saduak in Bangkok, or ride an elephant in an ethical elephant camp in Chang Mai. A visit to a rice plantation is also a highly recommended family activity, where both adults and children can spend a day getting hands on experience in real Thai farming. Spiritual travelers may also enroll in meditation retreats in Chang Mai, which have been gaining popularity in the recent years.

Known for having some of the most pristine beaches, Thailand is a dream destination for scuba divers, snorkelers and water sport enthusiasts worldwide. The idea of digging your toes into the powdery white sand at Krabi, dipping yourselves in the cerulean waters of Ko Samui, and taking Instagram-worthy photos of glorious sunsets in Phuket while sipping a cocktail should be more than enough reason to fly over for your next vacation. The mountainous landscape and lush tropical jungles in the North is yet another favorite destination for the adventurous.

Bangkok, being the capital of Thailand, is a main attraction for tourists. Featuring prestigious rooftop bars and robust nightlife, partying in Bangkok starts in the afternoon. With street stalls, bazaars and state of the art skyscrapers standing side by side, Bangkok has one of the best fusions between the old and the new. For shopaholics, nothing beats the famous Chatuchak weekend market (remember to grab yourself a classic coconut ice cream over there to beat the heat) and affordable fashion in Platinum Mall.

Affordability is another reason why many travelers place Thailand on the top of their bucket lists. Everything from food to transport and accommodation is almost one-third or less of the cost of the same thing in countries such as United States or Australia. One good example is the cheap Thai massages from legitimate parlors. An hour-long session hardly exceeds $10. A contrary to common belief, Thailand is also safe for solo travel and small groups.

Thailand is the main doorway to start an epic journey around Asia. With top destinations such as Singapore and Hong Kong situated just 2-4 hours away, Thailand is definitely a good place to start.

Souk Shopping in Morocco

While traveling through Morocco, you will surely find yourself far from bored and nothing short of having the time of your life. With plenty to see, do and discover, Morocco has become a destination hub for those looking to have unique adventures, thrills and experiences unlike anywhere else in the world. The following are some ideas on what you may want to check out during your next trip to stunning Morocco:

Wander the Souks

Also commonly referred to by travelers simply as markets, Moroccan souks are filled with what seem like miles long stalls of vendors offering handicrafts of leather, artisan wares, souvenirs and so much more. You may have to try out your bargaining skills while there but in doing so, you will surely walk away with some treasures that will last you a lifetime.

Ride a Camel

No trip to Morocco is ever complete without a camel ride. One of the best and most adventurous things you can do while in Morocco is head down to the Sahara for a few days and spend hours riding a camel and exploring the dunes. The most popular place to do just that is in a small town called Merzouga where you will be well taken care of and taken on a beautiful journey unlike any you have experienced before.

Indulge in the Food

One thing is for certain when you are spending time in Morocco; you will never go hungry. With delicious options from pastilla, a chicken breast covered in pastry dough and then covered in almonds, cinnamon and sugar, to the tasty avocado smoothies, you will love the way Moroccans eat.

Take a Bath

If you have just spent all day wandering the souks, looking for camels to ride and eating more than you should have, you are most likely looking for a good way to simply sit back and relax. The perfect way to do that is to head to the hammam where you can enjoy a full spa day filled with optional clothing, black soap and plenty of Moroccan people to chat with you while enjoying your unique bathing experience.
