Claudine Bhatti considers herself a self-made educator, having always remained involved and dedicated to her children’s education as well as the education of others. Before her children reached the age of five, Claudine had taught them how to spell, read, and write. When her children’s fifth grade teacher had given the word fruit as a vocabulary word, she found the word to be inadequate for their age group, as they had already been introduced to fruit before the age of five. Claudine believes that parents should take a proactive approach when it comes to their children’s education. When teachers asked her to assign vocabulary words out to her two children as well as a few other advanced students in their class, Claudine Bhatti gladly accepted the task.
Later, because of Claudine Bhatti’s noted presence and interaction within the school, she was asked by the school principal to tutor a group of Haitian children at the elementary level in reading, spelling, and vocabulary. These children knew little to no English at the time. The majority of these students would later go on to successfully graduate college.
